R55-9A fetures a tier 4 final Yanmar 4TNV98C Water-cooled, 4-cycle, 4 cylinders in line, direct injection, low emission diesel engine with 65.1 HP (48.5 kW) at 2,400 rpm

The R55-9A's boom swing function is designed for efficient work in congested residential and urban areas. The boom can be offset left or right within an operating range. Plus, increased swing torque provides enhanced operating capability on the slope.

All 9A series excavators feature as standard equipment a large dozer blade that provides added versatility, efficiency and stability.

The R55-9A is equipped with a standard tail swing which provides greater stability and lifting capacity than a traditional zero tail swing excavator. This provides additional versatility on the jobsite, especially when using auxiliary attachments.

The advanced new LCD cluster allows the operator to select his personal machine preferences. Button selections are provided for auto idle mode, max power mode, and travel speed. A security feature is also provided to prevent the machine from starting without a proper password.

The R55-9A operator's cab is designed for a comfortable operating experience. An ergonomically designed suspension seat, adjustable arm rests and a spacious environment helps to minimize operator fatigue.

The left and right control levers are ergonomically located for convenient access. Pilot operated hand levers are easily accessible for controlling the dozer blade and track extension. Easy-to-access control switches on the left side console improve operating comfort and productivity.

A tiltable left-side console allows the operator easier access to the cab. A safety lock system is designed to prevent exiting the cab while hydraulic controls are live. When the safety lever and left side console are positioned upright, hydraulic functions are disengaged.

A centralized lubrication bank is available for faster, easier service and maintenance.

9A series excavators were designed with bushings designed for extended lube intervals (250 hrs) & polymer shims (wear resistant, noise reducing), extended-life hydraulic filters (1,000hrs), long-life hydraulic oil (5,000hrs), more efficient cooling systems and integrated preheating systems which extend service intervals, minimize operating costs and reduce machine down time.

The R55-9A was built with accessibility in mind. All covers and hoods were built for complete open access. Regular service and maintenance is easy and convenient with the R55-9A.

The R55-9A comes equipped with dual locking quick coupler that complies with the latest safety standards and improves the safety when using a coupler with various attachments.

Hyundai's R55-9A is standard equipped with a full color, integrated rearview camera, viewable through the monitor. This feature keeps the operator aware of objects and personnel behind the machine and significantly reduces the opportunity for accidents.

Hyundai's R55-9A is tested in accordance with stringent ISO standards. The cab features a reinforced steel pillar design that complies with TOPS (turn over protection system) and FOG (falling object guard) level 1 ISO standards.
